Questions
there’s a bl manhwa I’ve read and can’t remember the title of, here’s what I vaguely remember:
- in a game, can’t log out
- He’s been in the game before, and he stoped playing
- In a vr pod thing
- The emperor? Top was upset once he (bottom) disappeared and found a substitute
- Multiple tops obsessed
- Locked in room
- Escapes and with help from someone who can change appearance (the substitute)
- Brings the substitute on his side by saying he can tell him his real name?
- Once outside, he finds a knight? Or something and he gets a quest from him
- Tried to khs? to log out
- Couldn’t log out in the end and escaped with new identity
- One of the tops found him and followed him to an island
- Despite not knowing it’s him, falls in love again
- Another top comes along and recognizes him immediately
- A chat appeared to try and help
- People outside of the game had realized the problem and is trying to help
- Becomes a knight??
Thanks for the help!!
I wish story writing was better in manga and comics.. I think a lot of artists rely on their art to do the heavy lifting, but never use any story devices which sells the characters more. It’s honestly become an iconic style of writing, the characters are unreal and it’s related heavily to manga now.. however there are so many simple techniques they could use, without having to change anything they’re doing. If characters kiss less often, it makes when they do more impactful. Instead of there being “the kiss” in many kisses, it’s “the kiss” through a long couple chapters of tension. Tears, I think tears are used terribly now, they’re far more impactful if a man sheds them, or if they’re only used in extremely impactful situations. Far too commonly are they used in sappy love scenes, or after the tension is dissolved. I’m just nitpicking but you get the idea… I wish manga had more variety in it’s writing, and the writers did more research, they’d end up having to do less with their art too, more impactful scenes and less crazy buildup.
I think generally a lot of mangas in one way or another fail to do this? A lot of Korean manga more-so. Netkama punch spurred this tangent, but I think sooo many manga have really poor stories being carried by the art, instead of using plot to create impact they use lots of flowery images which is fine but if it’s the billionth time this has happened it’s incredibly lacking. I think also “everything under the baby’s feet” when he was standing up to his dad. if he cried or his father recognized that his child is legitimately afraid of him I think the scene would’ve been more impactful. Alas we can’t always get what we want, but it’s things like this that I wish artists would look at more yknow? every scene tells a story, so every scene should be treated like it’s the most special.
I really hate jinx and I wish the author never created it. I hope that piece of trash dies and the uke doesn’t decide to pair up with that walking bag of shit that DARE I SAY I hate more than mahito or mei mei(I hate gege the most, I despise him with my entire being). Why can’t people only make likeable characters. Like yeah, you’re not a good person, and you’re the villain, but at least be likable. Is that so much to ask for?
at some point jaekyung defenders really need to understand that the issue most people have with his character isn't that he's hateable. i LIKE stories where the top is a cunt to the bottom at first (intentionally or otherwise), realize their actions hurt the other person and make an effort to be a better person. i like characters who are frustrating, mean, hypocritical etc. but the thing is mingwa ISN'T a good writer and she can't convey these characteristics properly. we understand her schtick atp, "mean asshole hot top x weak pussy ass bottom" which then develops into "redeemed only mean in a hot way top x a somewhat stable spined bottom", but she can't execute in a convincing way. she reminds me of EL James a lot. both incompetent writers who want to write one thing but end up writing abusive dogshit because they have fundamentally fucked up idea of intimacy. if jaekyung was ugly as fuck no one would defend him, but because he's hot (just like Christian Grey) he's allowed to be a massive bitch who gets maybe slapped once by his manager/boss as a karma or whatever.
